How to Add Highlights on Instagram from Camera Roll

If you’re like me, you love using Instagram to share your awesome photos and videos with your friends and followers.
But sometimes, you want to keep some of your stories on your profile longer than 24 hours.
That’s where highlights come in handy.
But what if you have some fantastic photos or videos on your camera roll that you want to add to your highlights?
You should have posted them as stories or wanted to keep them private later.
Highlights are like mini-albums that you can create and display on your profile. They let you showcase your best moments and express your personality. You can have as many highlights as you want, each with up to 100 stories.
Then, you can add them to your highlights immediately or later. Here’s how:
  • Open up Instagram on your phone or tablet.
  • Swipe right or hit that camera icon in the top left corner to get to the story camera.
  • Check your camera roll by tapping the little gallery icon in the bottom left corner.
  • Pick the pic or vid you want to add, and add some flavor with cool filters, stickers, and text if you’re feeling it.
  • Hit Send to in the bottom right, then post it as a story to your homies or Close Friends if you want to keep it on the DL.
  • Hit Done when you’re finished.
Now, you have two options: immediately add it to your highlights or wait until later.
  • Hold up until your Story dips out on its own after 24 hours, or delete it if you don’t want it sticking around.
  • Head to your profile by tapping the icon in the bottom right corner.
  • Hit up New under Story Highlights or jump on an existing highlight if you want to add it.
  • Find the pic or vid you archived under All Stories or by date.
  • Tap that Next button in the top right, give your highlight a dope name, and tap the Add button to seal the deal.
  • Are you done and done? Now you’re flexing with your highlight reel!
The easy way is pretty straightforward, but there’s one problem: everyone who follows you can see your Story before you add it to your highlights.
That may be fine with you, but you don’t want anyone else to see it. It could be too personal, too embarrassing, or too exclusive.
In that case, you can use a sneaky way: hide your Story from everyone.
  • First, let’s ensure your privacy settings are locked down tight.
  • To get started, tap your profile icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.
  • Next, hit the menu icon in the top right corner (with those three horizontal lines) and select Settings at the bottom.
  • From there, navigate to Privacy and tap on Story.
  • Under the Who Can See Your Story section, select Hide Story from and choose All.
  • Just tap Done to save your changes, and you’re all set.
This will hide your Story from your followers and anyone who visits your profile.
You can also hide it from specific people if you want.
Now, you can post your photo or video from your camera roll as a story and add it to your highlights using the same steps as the easy way.
The only difference is that no one else will see it.
If you want to unhide your Story from everyone, you can go back to the same settings and deselect All or the specific people you hid it from.
